Wednesdays - 5:30-7:30 pm - Grades 7-12
Join us Wednesday evenings at 5:30! We begin with a shared meal, followed by games on the first Wednesday of the month or lessons in faith on the other Wednesday of the month.
During the year we also participate in an areawide UMC youth gatherings and in several conference events. In the summers we go to camp and go on a youth group mission trip.
At Grace UMC, confirmation is designed to teach students about the Christian faith and our Wesleyan traditions as well as to help students experience life as a committed member of the congregation. Confirmation is rooted in "confirming" one's baptismal vows. These vows, along with the membership vows, can be found at a link to the right. Confirmation is often, but not always, a step taken before joining the church as a professing member. At Grace, we separate these two steps so that we can celebrate the confirmation of baptismal vows as a unique and significant step of faith. Confirmands will be given the opportunity at a later date to join the church as a professing member.
Confirmation is open to youth in grade 7 and above. There is a required Parent-Student meeting after church on September 20. Worship attendance and the submission of a "Message Musings" sheet is expected for each Sunday during the school year. (Yes, there will be a Sunday or two here and there when the family... will be out of town...) Classes will meet for an hour roughly ever other Sunday after church, beginning on October 4. There is also a required Confirmation Retreat on April 23-24 at Storm Mountain Center. A button that links to a copy of the schedule is to the right. Confirmation Sunday is May 16.
